Job Description - Orthodontic Assistant RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION (including, but not limited to): 1. Patient Flow • Cleaning and preparation of units before each patient. • Greet and seat patients, never leaving a seated patient unattended. • Anticipate and assist the orthodontist's needs at all times. • Charting of patient procedures to include charges (if applicable) and procedure and length of time for next visit. • Dismissal of patient, explanation of procedure to parent with review of progress. 2. Clinical Procedures to include (but not limited to) • Aliginate impressions and wax bite • Radiographs to include panelipse, cephalometric film and occlusal film • Intraoral photographs • Extraoral photographs • Processing imaging • Banding and bonding procedures • Removal of bonding materials • Re-cementing loose bands • Re-bonding loose brackets • Fabrication and/or fitting of headgears, lip bumpers and preformed appliances • Placement and removal of separators • Checking all patients for loose appliances prior to adjustments or wire changes • Changing arch wires or elastic ties • Deliver retainers and other removable appliances • Adjustment of removable appliances • Give patient instructions for cooperation and motivation • Documentation of all communication • Documentation of procedures in patient chart • Cleaning and replenishing of imaging equipment • Duplication images • Preparing bracket set ups 3. Entire office: • Provide excellent customer service • Ask for referrals
