Duties Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental chairs, and ensuring all necessary supplies are ready for procedures. Assist dentists during various treatments including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics by handing instruments and managing dental materials. Take and develop high-quality dental X-rays and medical imaging to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Operate electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic to accurately document patient information, treatment notes, and medical records while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Perform chairside assisting with aseptic technique to prevent infection and ensure patient safety throughout procedures. Monitor vital signs and assess patient comfort levels before, during, and after treatments. Manage patient flow efficiently by acting as a dental receptionistâscheduling appointments, confirming patient details, and providing excellent customer service. Educate patients on oral health care practices and post-treatment instructions clearly and professionally. Maintain infection control protocols by adhering to OSHA standards and proper sterilization procedures. Support the use of advanced dental technology including 3D scanners for prosthodontics or other specialized imaging equipment as needed. Assist with medical documentation related to dental procedures and ensure accurate coding for billing purposes. Collaborate with the team on four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during procedures. Keep up-to-date with current dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and best practices in pediatric dentistry to provide top-tier support. Requirements Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with knowledge of general dentistry procedures. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Epic or similar platforms for medical documentation. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy at all times. Experience with X-ray techniques, digital imaging, and 3D scanners used in prosthodontics or other specialties. Knowledge of infection control standards including aseptic technique and sterilization processes. Ability to perform vital signs assessment and assist with chairside procedures confidently across various dental disciplines including pediatric dentistry. Excellent communication skills for interacting effectively with patients of all agesâespecially pediatricsâand team members alike. Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding practices is highly desirable.
