Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our reputable pediatric dental practice. The ideal candidate will support the delivery of high-quality patient care by assisting dentists during procedures, managing patient records, and ensuring a clean and safe clinical environment. Prior experience with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic is preferred, along with knowledge of HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols. The Dental Assistant will play a vital role in maintaining efficient clinic operations and delivering exceptional patient experiences. Responsibilities Assist dentists during various procedures including restorative and pediatric dentistry treatments. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring aseptic techniques are followed. Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols. Record vital signs and medical history information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Manage patient flow by greeting patients, scheduling appointments, and updating medical documentation while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Perform chairside assisting with proficiency in dental terminology, four-handed dentistry techniques, and medical imaging procedures. Maintain infection control standards through proper sterilization and handling of dental instruments and materials. Educate patients on oral health care instructions and post-treatment care. Support administrative tasks such as managing medical records, coding procedures for billing purposes, and assisting the dental receptionist as needed. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting; experience with dental clinic software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques. Familiarity with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry. Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely and effectively; certification in radiography preferred. Experience with pediatric dentistry is a plus; familiarity with pediatrics is advantageous. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical documentation and records. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of patient care.
