Duties Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments following strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques. Assist dentists during procedures such as restorations, endodontics, prosthodontics, and orthodontics (Invisalign) treatments with precision and professionalism. Take and develop dental X-rays ensuring proper positioning and safety measures. Manage patient records efficiently using electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Dentrix (we use Dentrix) ensuring accuracy in medical documentation and coding. Monitor vital signs and medical history of patients to support overall health assessments before procedures. Educate patients on dental procedures, post-treatment care, and oral hygiene practices to promote optimal health outcomes. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist and maintaining organized medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Skills Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, four-handed dentistry, and anatomy knowledge for accurate procedure support. Experience with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for documentation and scheduling purposes. Preferably Dentrix as that is the system we use. Knowledge of dental terminology, infection control standards, and aseptic techniques to ensure a safe clinical environment. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and ITero while adhering to safety protocols. Strong understanding of dental terminology, dental coding, and dental documentation processes relevant to dental care.
