Job Description
Job Summary
Prepares patients for procedure and assists Oral Surgeon during surgery. This includes but is not limited to sterilizing instruments, setting up equipment, taking xrays, monitoring vitals during surgeries, and advising of post-surgical care. Assistant may also perform other clerical tasks when needed.

General Accountabilities
  • Greets patient and prepares patient for surgery.
  • Taking digital x-rays and scans.
  • Assists the oral surgeon during surgery by providing suction, monitoring of instruments, and swapping of tools as necessary.
  • Monitors patient position and vital signs during surgery.
  • Records treatment information in patient records when needed. 
  • Provides postoperative instructions to patient.
  • Sterilizes and disinfects instruments, sets up instrument trays and prepares any other needed materials for cases. 
  • Takes impressions as needed.

Job Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Certification from an accredited dental assistant program a plus.
  • Experience: Preferably 1-3 years' experience as a surgical assistant but will consider candidates with 2-3 years' experience as a dental assistant.
  • CPR and DAANCE Certification a plus.
  • This position requires travel between three office locations
  • This position can include some weekend hours

  • Strong communications skills and a calm demeanor in stressful situations. Social perceptiveness.
  • Ability to actively listen and take instruction. 
  • Monitoring.
