Dental Assistant

 Review health history, take appropriate x-rays, build patient relationships. Take patient picture.
• 2 on 1 Transfer to Doctor.
• Ensure instruments/materials are ready for doctor when he sits down to patient. Neither assistant nor doctor should have to get up during entire procedure.
• Set up and clean up treatment rooms as needed.
• Assist doctor with all procedures as appropriate.
• Log notes where needed. Ensure accurate and thorough notes.
• Log specialist referral if needed.
• Confirm doctor’s diagnosis and educate patient on procedures and why treatment is necessary.
• Use routes as guide for tx needed, recare, etc and schedule patient for tx and recare.
• Be prepared and comfortable to discuss treatment presentation only when Office Manager/Treatment Coordinator are not available.
• Schedule patient for next recare visit if not already set up.
• Provide patient with appointment card and ask for referral.
• Bring patient to front and provide thorough 2 on 1 transfer to Office Manager/Treatment Coordinator.

Scheduling Responsibilities:
• Ask for recare AND treatment appointments with every patient. Every patient should leave with an appointment!
• Set appointments accurately—correct provider, column, time amount, procedures in appointment, X’s and blanks.
• Keep hygiene out of doctor’s schedule.
