Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Dental Assistant to join our team. As a Dental Assistant, you will provide support to the dentist and help ensure efficient dental procedures. Your role will involve assisting with patient care, performing dental procedures, and maintaining a clean and organized dental office.
Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, ensuring all necessary instruments and supplies are available
- Assist the dentist during dental procedures by handing them instruments, maintaining suction, and providing patient comfort
- Take and develop dental x-rays, ensuring high-quality images for accurate diagnosis
- Record patient medical history, vital signs, and dental charting in cloud-based Dentrix Ascend
- Perform infection control procedures to maintain a safe and clean environment
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-operative care instructions
- Schedule patient appointments and manage patient records
- Assist with dental lab tasks, 3D scanning with iTero
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a dental assisting program preferred
- X-ray certification required; additional certifications such as CPR or infection control are a plus
- Proficient in using dental software systems (Dentix) for scheduling appointments and managing patient records
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and instruments
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients and team members
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Knowledge of medical imaging systems and ability to take accurate dental x-rays
- Familiarity with infection control protocols to ensure a safe working environment
