Yesterday, the California Dental Association recommended that dentists in California close their practice for 14 days.

Additionally, the ADA recommended all dentists nationwide postpone elective procedures for the next three weeks.

We'll only be seeing emergency patients at our dental office for 3 weeks in accordance, and reserving treatments for dental emergencies. We went live on our Facebook page yesterday to explain to patients what this means and what to do in the case of a dental emergency.

Yesterday, the ADA released this statement regarding coronavirus

The California Dental Association strongly recommends that dentists practicing in California voluntarily suspend non-urgent or non-emergency dental care for the next 14 days. As always, it is expected that dentists will continue to be available as needed for emergency care and services.

In addition, the CDA is also recommending dental offices limit their treatments.

CDA is strongly advising dental offices to limit patient treatment to only care for those patients with urgent oral health needs. Reducing patient visits to urgent care only will reduce risk of disease exposure for your patients, your staff and yourself.

There is lots of detailed information available with specific FAQs on the ADA website, including a variety of employment questions, like how to handle employee compensation.

These recommendations do not come down lightly and are being asked to help us control the spread of the virus as a community.
