Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment: Assess patients' oral health by reviewing their medical history, conducting oral exams, and taking X-rays.
- Cleanings and Scaling: Perform professional dental cleanings to remove plaque, tartar, and stains from the teeth. Also perform scaling and root planing procedures to address more advanced gum disease (6-8 patients a day)
- Education and Counseling: Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and the use of other dental aids.
- Topical Fluoride Application: Apply fluoride treatments to help prevent tooth decay. This may involve the use of gels, foams, or varnishes.
- Screening for Oral Diseases: Check for signs of oral diseases, such as gingivitis or periodontitis. Also screen for oral cancer by examining the soft tissues of the mouth and throat.
- Taking and Developing X-rays: Take dental X-rays to help diagnose and identify issues not visible during a regular oral examination.
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, including their oral health history, treatment plans, and any procedures performed. This documentation is essential for tracking a patient's progress and coordinating care with other members of the dental team.
- Collaboration with Dentists: Work closely with dentists to develop treatment plans and discuss any concerns or issues identified during patient assessments.
- Infection Control: Ensuring a clean and safe environment is crucial in our office. Follow strict infection control protocols, including proper sterilization of instruments and maintaining aseptic conditions during procedures.
