Summary
Tualatin Valley Dental is looking for a competent and friendly dental assistant to work with our growing team. We are searching for someone who can make patients feel comfortable and who is motivated to continually learn and improve. Our ideal candidate is skilled in providing direct and indirect patient care, has a positive attitude, and is a team player.
Our office prioritizes patient experience and are welcoming team members with high standards for patient care and organization and with a drive to improve themselves and their environment.
Schedule
- Starting at 3 days per week, plan to increase to 4 days/week in 6 months, no longer than a year
- Schedule will alternate Mon-Wed and Wed-Fri, allowing extended weekends every other week
- 8 am-4 pm, No evenings or weekend shifts required
Duties & Responsibilities
- Welcome patients and prepare them for treatment, ensuring comfort
- Select and set up instruments, equipment, and materials needed for the procedure
- Sterilize instruments according to regulations
- Keep the operatories clean and well-stocked, manage inventory and ordering
- Expose dental x-rays from dental diagnostics and care for dental x-ray equipment.
- Assist the dentist through 4-handed dentistry
- Undertake lab tasks as instructed, including communicating with lab
- Provide oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions
- Maintain accurate patient records, including patient histories, exam findings, treatment notes, and patient communication
Requirements
- Previous experience as a dental assistant, at least one year preferred
- Radiology certification
- Additional certification or training is a plus (e.g. EFDA) and will increase starting pay
- Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods
- Good computer skills
- Organized with attention to detail
- Ability to work with interruptions and to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Ability to maintain outgoing, friendly attitude with patients and staff even under pressure
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting rate $22 per hour, with potential for greater earnings based on experience and qualifications
- PTO (1 hour for every 15 hours paid)
