Orthodontic Dental Assistant - Today's Dental of Boxborough - Watertown, MA

OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and skilled Orthodontic Assistant to join our dynamic dental team Once a month. It will be the 4th Tuesday of the month. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting orthodontic procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, medical documentation, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities

Assist the orthodontist during various procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment in compliance with infection control protocols.
Take medical imaging, including X-rays, as needed for treatment planning.
Maintain accurate medical documentation and patient records in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions.
Manage appointment scheduling and assist with front desk duties when necessary, including answering phones and greeting patients.
Collaborate with the dental team to ensure smooth workflow and high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

Previous experience as an Orthodontic Assistant or in a similar role within a dental clinic is preferred.
Proficiency in Open Dental
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and endodontics is essential.
Familiarity with medical documentation practices and HIPAA compliance is required.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with patients and team members.
Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
Certification in dental assisting or relevant training is a plus.
