POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the direct provision of oral hygiene and appropriate preventive services to dental patients in a community health care setting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assists in the oral health management of patients.
Provides oral health education and appropriate individual counseling for all dental patients.
Provides clinical oral hygiene services including dental prophylaxis, scaling, sealant application, and fluoride application consistent with accepted professional practices and standards and in compliance with state law and the organization’s clinical protocols.
Performs independent procedures as delegated and directed by a dentist in accordance with state regulations and law as well as organization protocol and directives.
Licenses: Unrestricted license to practice Dental Hygiene in the State of Maine.
Certifications: Current CPR (BLS) certification.
Education: Graduation from an accredited school of Dental Hygiene.
Job-Related Experience Required: Dental Hygiene experience is desirable, but not required.
Other Special Skills Required: Must be cognizant of the public health, social and economic factors that impact the overall health, and more specifically the oral health of patients. The ability to creatively solve problems through individual and/or programmatic action is an important part of this position.

Pay: From $36.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
