Lead Pediatric Dental Assistant - New York Family Dentistry - Brooklyn, NY

Your Role & Responsibilities: Provide advanced chairside support to pediatric dentists during a variety of procedures including exams, cleanings, sealants, restorative treatments, and behavior management techniques. Mentor and train junior dental assistants, ensuring clinical excellence and adherence to pediatric care protocols. Prepare and maintain a child-friendly clinical environment, including sterilization of instruments and organization of treatment rooms. Take high-quality pediatric radiographs and assist with charting, documentation, and treatment planning. Educate parents and patients on oral hygiene practices, post-operative care, and preventive strategies. Help ensure smooth patient flow by coordinating with front office and other clinical team members. Assist with behavioral guidance techniques to help children feel calm, safe, and supported during visits. Maintain compliance with infection control and safety protocols.
What You Bring: Certification from an accredited dental assisting program; CDA or RDA preferred. 2+ years of pediatric dental assisting experience (required). Strong understanding of pediatric dental procedures, child behavior, and age-appropriate communication. Ability to lead by example, take initiative, and foster a supportive team environment. Radiology certification and up-to-date CPR/BLS credentials. Proficiency in dental software systems like Dentrix Ascend (a plus!). Friendly, energetic personality with a passion for working with children.
