Job Opportunity: Expanded Duty Dental Assistant (EDDA)
Location: Greater Houston (Galleria, Heights, Spring, Cypress)
Position: Full-Time, On-Site
Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Expanded Duty Dental Assistant (EDDA) to join our team. In this role, you will support our dental professionals in delivering high-quality oral healthcare services. Your responsibilities will include both clinical and administrative tasks to ensure efficient and effective dental care.
Key Responsibilities:
Chairside Assistance:
Assist the dentist during procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and materials are readily available.
Prepare and sterilize instruments.
Provide chairside support, including passing instruments and maintaining a sterile environment.
Patient Care:
Welcome and prepare patients for treatment.
Record patient medical and dental histories.
Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
Help manage patient anxiety and ensure comfort.
Radiography:
Take dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed.
Follow proper techniques and safety protocols during radiographic procedures.
Impressions and Models:
Take dental impressions for diagnostic casts.
Pour and trim models for the dentist's review.
Manage and order dental supplies.
Infection Control:
Adhere to strict infection control protocols.
Sterilize instruments and equipment according to established guidelines.
Laboratory Work:
Fabricate temporary crowns, bridges, and ALL-on-4 appliances.
Assist in creating other dental prosthetics as needed.
Continuing Education:
Stay informed about industry trends, new technologies, and regulations.
Participate in continuing education to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
Completion of an accredited dental assisting program.
Certification as an Expanded Duty Dental Assistant, as required by state regulations.
Radiography certification (if necessary).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
Knowledge of dental terminology and procedures.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
At least 1 year of experience in a dental setting is preferred.
Compensation:
Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour, based on experience.
Expected Hours: 40 hours per week.
