Responsibilities:- Perform dental hygiene procedures, including dental cleanings, scaling, and root planning- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and provide personalized oral health care instructions- Conduct patient assessments, including medical history review and oral cancer screenings- Take and develop dental x-rays as needed- Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide sedation when necessary- Assist the dentist during procedures by providing necessary instruments and materials- Maintain accurate patient records and treatment plans- Follow strict infection control protocols and maintain aseptic technique throughout all procedures- Provide dental care to pediatric patients, ensuring a comfortable and positive experience
Qualifications:- Valid state dental hygiene license- Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program- Strong knowledge of dental assisting systems, including CAD/CAM technology and digital imaging software (Epic, Dentrix, iTero)- Proficient in medical coding for dental procedures- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively educate patients on oral health care practices- Knowledge of dental anatomy and oral pathology- Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with other dental professionals
