Dental Assistant - Smile design specialist - North Arlington, NJ

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Registered Dental Assistant to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will have excellent clinical and communication skills, a strong commitment to patient care, and a thorough understanding of dental procedures and practices. The Dental Assistant will work closely with the dentist to provide high-quality care and ensure a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care:
Assist the dentist during various dental procedures, including fillings, crowns, and extractions.
Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment in accordance with infection control protocols.
Take and develop dental X-rays as directed by the dentist.
Provide patients with instructions on post-operative care and general oral hygiene.
Clinical Support:
Set up and maintain the dental operatory for each patient appointment.
Ensure that all necessary instruments, materials, and supplies are available for each procedure.
Record and update patient medical and dental histories.
Monitor and manage patient comfort during procedures.
Administrative Duties:
Schedule and confirm patient appointments, including follow-ups and recalls.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including treatment notes and billing information.
Assist with patient check-in and check-out procedures.
Handle patient inquiries and concerns with professionalism and empathy.
Infection Control:
Adhere to infection control procedures, including sterilization of equipment and maintenance of a clean work environment.
Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
Team Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with the dental team to provide efficient and effective patient care.
Communicate effectively with both patients and staff to ensure smooth operation of the practice.
Assist with training and mentoring of new dental assistants or interns as needed.
Equipment Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance and checks on dental equipment to ensure proper functionality.
Report any malfunctions or issues with equipment to the appropriate personnel.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a dental assisting program preferred.
Valid Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license or equivalent certification.
Proven experience as a dental assistant, with a strong understanding of dental procedures and terminology.
Proficiency in dental software and digital radiography.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
Manual dexterity and ability to handle dental instruments and equipment.
Light lifting and carrying of dental supplies and equipment.
