Job Duties Performed
Give all new patients a tour of the office. Follow the “New Patient Tour Protocol.”
· Perform patient screening procedures such as assessment of oral health conditions, review of health history, restorative charting, and Perio charting. A new medical history must be filled out once per year. Perio charting should be done on every hygiene patient every time.
· Take diagnostic quality radiographs. If the patient is due for x-rays and refuses to have them taken, then they must sign the x-ray refusal form. Also, take intraoral photographs as necessary.
· Remove calculus and plaque from all surfaces of the teeth.
· Apply preventative materials to teeth whenever necessary (such as fluoride and sealants).
· Teach patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health. Offer appropriate homecare tools (such as: Oral-B electric toothbrush, Prevident, and MI Paste).
· Document all procedures performed in the patient’s chart using “Charting Protocol.” Hygiene templates must be used and accurately filled out.
· Help in any way you can by supporting the entire team (take x-rays, give anesthetic, help turn-over rooms). Downtime should always be productive.
· Ask for referrals and promote the patient appreciation program.
· Audit the schedule for the following day using the “Auditing Protocol.”
