OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and skilled Lead Assistant or Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our tight-knit and well established family dental practice, D1 Dentistry on Main. We are a fully digital, OON, dental office that has been proudly serving generations of families for over 70 years. Our mission is to provide excellent dental care while nurturing the patient experience through compassion and connection. We are constantly looking for ways to improve patient care.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for patient care, a strong understanding of dental procedures, and the leadership skills to guide and mentor our dental assistant team. As a Lead Dental Assistant or EFDA, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the dental office while maintaining a positive and collaborative work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise a team of dental assistants to ensure smooth clinic operations.
Assist the dentist during patient procedures, including exams, fillings, cleanings, and surgeries.
Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment.
Manage patient flow to optimize scheduling and reduce wait times.
Maintain patient records and ensure accurate documentation of dental procedures.
Provide training and mentorship to junior dental assistants, ensuring adherence to best practices and safety protocols.
Coordinate with front office staff for patient appointments and treatment planning.
Ensure all infection control protocols are strictly followed.
Order and maintain dental supplies inventory, ensuring stock is always up to date.
Assist in patient education regarding oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Certification in dental assisting (DANB or equivalent) required. EFDA certification preferred but not required.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a dental assistant. Previous experience in a leadership role is a plus.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and instruments.
