Are you a Dental Hygienist looking for an opportunity to use your skills to help hundreds of children in our community? We want you to join our team providing preventive dental services for children in public health locations like schools, WIC clinics, Head Start centers, and child care centers. This job is ideal if you are passionate about community health and you are comfortable working independently and in diverse environments.
Key Responsibilities:
The Public Health Dental Hygienist delivers preventive dental care and oral health education in community-based settings, with a focus on underserved populations. This role involves clinical and outreach work, including dental screenings, fluoride treatments, sealant application, and oral hygiene instruction. The hygienist collaborates with other health professionals to reduce oral health disparities and improve community health outcomes.
Requirements:
The successful candidate must be an Iowa-licensed dental hygienist; have at least a year of clinical experience, have or be able to obtain public health supervision from a dentist, be able to travel within the Firefly service area, have good verbal and written communication skills, transport the Firefly mobile wellness unit to various locations (valid drivers license required) and work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with public health education or community outreach.
Bilingual abilities a plus.
Familiarity with electronic dental records and public health documentation systems.

Compensation:

$2500 Hiring Bonus
Wage will be discussed in interview.

Work Environment:

Work may be performed in schools, clinics, community centers, mobile dental units, or office settings.
May involve travel to various community sites and flexible work hours.

Schedule - M-F (occasional events on weekends or evenings)
