Job OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental practice. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of the dental office. This position requires a strong understanding of dental procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Assist dentists during examinations and procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment in accordance with infection control protocols.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as needed.
Maintain accurate medical documentation and patient records using electronic health record systems, such as Epic.
Perform basic dental procedures under the supervision of the dentist, including assisting in prosthodontics and general dentistry tasks.
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
Manage appointment scheduling, patient flow, and administrative tasks to ensure efficient office operations.
Support pediatric dentistry efforts by creating a welcoming environment for young patients.
Requirements
Certification or diploma in Dental Assisting or equivalent experience is preferred.
Knowledge of medical coding and medical documentation practices is advantageous.
Familiarity with infection control standards and protocols in a dental setting.
Experience with medical imaging techniques is a plus.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate clearly with patients and team members.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
Previous experience in pediatric dentistry or prosthodontics is desirable but not mandatory.
