Permanent Dental Assistant Job in Waterford, MI

We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and friendly Dental Receptionist and Dental Assistant to join our dental team. These positions are essential in ensuring our patients have a smooth and welcoming experience while helping to manage the financial and administrative aspects of their care. You will be the first point of contact for patients, as well as the main liaison for verifying insurance coverage and benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
Front Desk Reception:
Greet and check-in patients with a warm, professional attitude
Answer phone calls, schedule appointments, and confirm upcoming visits
Maintain accurate patient records and update personal/medical information
Collect co-pays and outstanding balances at the time of service
Ensure the reception area is clean and welcoming
Verify patient dental insurance coverage prior to appointments
Accurately input insurance data into the practice management system
Obtain pre-authorizations and referrals when required
Provide patients with cost estimates and explain coverage limitations
Dental assistant :
Assist the dentist chairside during examinations and dental procedures
Set up and break down operatories with proper instruments and materials
Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment according to safety protocols
Take and process dental X-rays (as certified)
Record medical histories and patient information accurately in dental software
Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-procedure care
Maintain equipment and manage supply inventory
Comply with OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; dental office experience preferred
Knowledge of dental insurance plans (PPO, HMO, Medicaid, etc.)
Familiarity with dental terminology and CDT codes
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Comfortable using dental practice management software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental)
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
1+ year of dental assisting experience
Bilingual (Spanish or Arabic) must
Experience with digital X-rays and intraoral scanners
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 20 per week
