Job OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sterilization Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining infection control standards by ensuring that all surgical and dental instruments are properly sterilized and prepared for use. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, adherence to HIPAA regulations, and familiarity with various systems used in healthcare settings.
Responsibilities
Perform sterilization procedures on surgical and dental instruments using appropriate methods and equipment.
Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Monitor sterilization equipment for proper functioning and report any malfunctions.
Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes, including tracking instruments through the sterilization cycle.
Collaborate with dental and medical staff to ensure timely availability of sterile instruments for procedures.
Assist with inventory management of sterilization supplies and notify supervisors of low stock levels.
Stay updated on best practices in infection control and participate in ongoing training as required.
Skills
Strong knowledge of infection control practices and protocols.
Familiarity with Dental terminology relevant to the healthcare field.
Experience with systems such as Open Dental is preferred.
Understanding of pediatric and Adult care principles is a plus, particularly in a dental clinic setting.
Knowledge of prosthodontics is beneficial for assisting in specialized procedures.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Strong communication skills to interact effectively with healthcare professionals.
