Job SummaryWe are seeking a motivated and skilled Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our dental team in Kokomo, Indiana. The EFDA will support the dentist in all clinical tasks while delivering excellent patient care. The ideal candidate will be certified, dependable, and passionate about helping patients maintain and improve their oral health.
Duties

Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are prepared and ready for use.
Maintain accurate medical documentation for each patient visit, adhering to HIPAA regulations.
Utilize dental software to manage patient records and appointments efficiently.
Implement infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
Perform medical coding for insurance purposes, ensuring proper billing practices are followed.
Operate 3D scanners for imaging when required, providing support during diagnostic procedures.
Educate patients on post-operative care, oral hygiene practices, and treatment plans as directed by the dentist.
Collaborate with the dental team to provide exceptional patient care and improve overall practice efficiency.

Skill

Proficient in medical documentation and familiar with electronic health record systems.
Strong understanding of aseptic techniques and infection control practices in a clinical setting.
Experience with dental software systems.
Knowledge of medical coding principles related to dental procedures is advantageous.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with patients and team members.
Ability to assist in various dental procedures.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in documentation and patient care.

Qualifications

Valid EFDA Certification in the state of Indiana
Dental Radiography certification (Indiana-specific)
Strong knowledge of dental instruments and terminology
Excellent communication and patient service skills
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Familiarity with dental software
