Permanent Dental Assistant Job in Appleton, WI

Prepare work area, equipment and instruments for each patient including chair turnover and proper sterilization
Prepare the daily schedule including review of medical history, need of consents, and financial arrangements
Greet patient, prepare them for treatment and assist in making them comfortable during procedures
Monitor nitrous oxide and oxygen under dentist supervision.
Assist dentist with procedures by passing instruments from the tray to the dentist and suctioning patients
Carry out and assist with behavior management techniques as recommended by First Impressions
Discuss Pre Op and Post Op instructions as well as full details of the procedure with guardian before, during and after the appointment
Enter accurate and thorough clinical notes and transaction codes for each procedure into the computer system; Ascend and Dolphin
Assist the dentist with âThank Youâ cards, doctor referrals and treatment complete letters
Take impressions for space maintainers, mouth guards and other appliances
Pour and trim models and fabricate appliances when needed
Complete lab slips and send appliances out to be made
Assist with all other orthodontic procedures as needed
Take panoramic, cephalometric, bitewings and periapical x-rays
Maintain a clean and organized work area
Review and send treatment information to insurance carriers
Be able to perform the duties as outlined in the Pedo Prophy Assistant job description
Perform weekly/monthly lab cleaning, maintenance of autoclaves, statims and any other equipment and hand pieces
Inventory and stock supplies as needed
Provide coverage in other areas as needed including, but not limited to, the Hospital setting
Other duties as assigned
Work Schedule:
Mon - Thurs; 7:30 am - 5:00 pm, Fri; 7:30 am - 1:00 pm
Position Type: Full time
High School diploma
Strong desire to work with children
A minimum of one year experience working with children preferred
Dental Assistant Certificate preferred
Strong customer service skills and commitment to patient/parent satisfaction
Must be able to communicate with co-workers and work as a team in order to maintain a steady flow
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with and educate parents
Good hand eye coordination manual dexterity and precision
Requires local travel to other First Impressions offices
Basic computer and data entry skills
Good time management skills
