Job Summary
The Dental Clinic Director performs restorative, prosthodontic, surgical, endodontic, interceptive orthodontic and periodontal treatment as provided in general dentistry. The Director is responsible for managing the dental staff in partnership with the Health System Administrator for Dental.
Essential Functions
Educating patients on oral health care
Examine teeth and diagnose patients' dental conditions, using X-rays
Assessing treatment options and agreeing treatment plans with patients
Carrying out agreed clinical treatments, such as restoring teeth affected by decay, crown and bridge work, etc.
Maintaining patients' dental records
Develop and implement procedures in partnership with the Health System Administrator for dental clinic staff and customer flow at Dena'ina Wellness Center
Understand and follow current regulations and be able to adapt to new laws in healthcare
Provide quality improvement resources and work with quality system staff to support task oversight and compliance
Interview, hire, provide orientations, mentor and train staff in partnership with the Dental Clinic Supervisor
Analyze population data to identify needs. Develop services in partnership with the Health System Administrator and the Executive Director of Health Systems
Keep abreast of best practices through a structured continuous professional development (CPD) program

Qualifications
Education
Graduate from an accredited dental school
Experience
Five years of experience practicing dentistry preferred
Experience in supervising and managing dental staff and managing budgets
Experience working with Alaska Native or American Indian populations
Preferred
Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities
License/Certification
Alaska Dental licensure and DEA license required
Valid Alaska driver license and must remain insurable under Tribal policy
