Job Description
The Ohio State University College of Dentistry seeks Dental Assistants to join our team. The Ohio State University College of Dentistry is the fourth largest public dental school in the United States and it is the only public dental school in Ohio. The college is divided into ten divisions with all major ADA-recognized dental specialties represented. The College has approximately 600 students in its undergraduate and graduate programs.
This position serves as primary chairside assistant in four-handed treatment of patients, sterilizes instruments in accordance with OSHA regulations; answers phone and provides information to internal and external customers; maintains patient records and clinic files; enters data, cleans and maintains dental operatories and labs; performs treatment set up, takes alginate impressions, pours casts and takes x-rays; maintains clinic inventories.
M-F, 7:30AM - 4:30PM - Actual hours may vary depending upon job location
Pay Range - $18.17 - $23.94 per hour, varies depending upon experience and job location
This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check and drug and alcohol screening.
Candidate must be able to: work nights and /or weekend as needed for college events; frequent lifting/pulling/pushing up to 50lbs; frequent bending/twisting/turning/reaching below knees and above shoulders; and involves frequent standing/walking. Individuals in this position may be exposed to the following: blood borne pathogens; chemical hazards (skin irritants); vibrating equipment; use of sharp instruments and latex. Demonstrates ability to work well with others as part of a fast-paced team. Minimum Education Required Per Classified Civil Svc Specs Additional Education Desired Technical School
Required Qualifications Required: 3 months experience (3 courses) in dental office practices and procedures; 3 months experience (3 courses) in dental operatory practices and procedures; 3 months experience (3 courses) in four-handed assisting techniques; 3 months experience (3 courses) in inventory record-keeping; 3 months experience (300 hrs. training) in care of dental equipment; 1 month experience (100 hrs. training) in using a computer. MUST PASS HEALTH STANDARDS AND REQUIREMENTS PRESCRIBED BY LAW PRIOR TO APPOINTMENT (e.g., hepatitis, vaccination series, and TB test). Positions performing radiography must be registered with the Ohio Dental Board as a Dental Assistant Radiographer. Desired: Experience using a personal computer and Microsoft Office to generate a variety of materials ranging from basic to complex in a business environment; one year experience in an in-person customer service setting; excellent interpersonal skills.
