Registered Dental Assistant - Shelton Dental Center - Henrico, VA

OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental practice. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of dental terminology and anatomy, along with experience in general dentistry and endodontics. As a vital member of our team, you will assist in providing high-quality patient care while ensuring the smooth operation of the dental office.
Responsibilities

Assist the dentist during various procedures, including general dentistry and endodontics.
Prepare and maintain treatment rooms, ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are ready for use.
Follow aseptic techniques to maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as needed.
Record patient information accurately in Dentrix or similar systems.
Provide patient education on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
Manage appointment scheduling and assist with front desk duties as needed, including medical coding.
Maintain inventory of dental supplies and equipment, placing orders when necessary.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or similar role in a dental practice.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and procedures.
Familiarity with Dentrix or other dental management software is preferred.
Understanding of aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients and team members.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Certification in dental assisting is a plus but not mandatory.
Previous experience as a dental receptionist is advantageous.
