Dental Assistant -Short Pump - Virginia Family Dentistry - Henrico, VA

Virginia Family Dentistry is looking for an experienced Chairside Dental Assistant to join our Short Pump team! Pay range is $17-$25/hour based on experience. Typical work hours are 8 am-5 pm Monday-Friday. Dental assistants support the entire team of doctors, hygienists, clinical and administrative staff while always keeping our patients’ needs first. The assistant must have knowledge of dental procedures, x-ray certification, OSHA regulations and State Board requirements. Must be willing to work in and be part of the larger team and communicate effectively with doctors, employees, and patients. Essential Job Functions Provide chairside assistance to the dentist Take x-rays Stock, organize, and disinfect operatories Ensure instrument sterilization and proper infection control protocol Review the doctor’s schedule daily, set up and prepare for patient appointments with needed supplies, lab cases, implants and other necessary items Input treatment plan given by the doctor into Dentrix Keep the schedule on time and communicate with the front desk Escort each patient to the front desk for check out Maintain a lab tracking system to ensure all lab work is ready for the patients’ appointment Ordering and unpacking supplies Collaborate with the doctor scheduler on schedules and maintaining the unscheduled list by following up with the patients and needed treatment Help the hygienists and administrative staff as needed This job description is not meant to cover or include all tasks, duties, or responsibilities.
