The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
Job Overview:
Assists the dentists of the Department of Dentistry by performing clinical and organizational tasks as described in the NJ Administrative Codes.
Qualifications:
Required:

High School Diploma or GED
Prior experience of digital radiology needed
Good organizational and communication skills required

Preferred:

Three to five years dental experience preferred
Knowledge of medical/dental terminology and billing preferred

Certifications and Licenses Required:

NJ Dental Xray License required
NJ RDA when hired or within 1 year of hire date
Basic Life Support Certification- CPR AED through American Heart Association

Essential Functions:

Assure instrument sterilization and organization within the Dental Dept as well as through Central Supply.
Assure that a doctor-signed chart note has been made for each visit before the chart is returned to reception desk including documentation of 2 forms of patient identification and surgical time out for surgeries.
Assure that patient's required forms, e.g. health history, consent, a written entry on B.P., pulse, etc. are completed. the DA is responsible to take and record these vital signs.
Chairside assisting, instrument passing, retraction, suctioning, and maintaining clear field of vision for the dentist. This includes laboratory procedures. Assist in operating room when necessary.
Keeps dental units, cabinets and carts appropriately supplied clean, neat, orderly as described in the policy manual, performing routine unit maintenance and reports all equipment repair needs to the supervisor.
Must be able to accept direction from the dentist with whom she is working at chairside. If more than one chair is to be covered, she is to keep alert to the needs of each dentist.
Take diagnostic quality Xrays and have full ability and knowledge of all xray procedures.
