Dental Hygienist II - Alamance County Government - Burlington, NC

JOB The primary purpose of this position is to provide clinical hygiene services in the Mobile Dental Health Clinic to patients age 0-21 and assist with administrative duties for the portable dental clinic at schools in the Alamance Burlington School System. When not working in the Mobile Dental Health Clinic, will be providing dental hygiene services in the Children’s Dental Clinic. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Provide hygiene services to children in a school setting without direct supervision as a public health hygienistTake FMX, BWX, or Panorex x-raysComplete oral prophylaxis, scaling and root planning, and/or periodontal maintenance procedures Complete sealants and fluoride treatmentsProvide screenings, dental health education and oral hygiene instructions Assist the dentist when necessary Complete necessary documentation, review chartsMaintain hygiene equipmentProvide education for comprehensive clinic patients and to special populations as scheduledParticipate in special community activities such as Children’s Dental Health Month, Give Kids a Smile, Health Fairs, etc.Provide preventative dental health education for various community organizations. Assist with administrative duties for the portable dental clinicSupervise/instruct UNC hygiene students, and assist with special functions with ACC Dental Assisting students when working in the Children’s Dental Clinic. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Considerable knowledge of and skill in the application of the techniques and practices of dental hygiene.
