Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pediatric Dental Assistant/EDDA to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and a strong background in dental assisting, particularly in pediatric dentistry. This role involves providing chairside assistance during dental procedures, ensuring a comfortable environment for young patients, and maintaining the highest standards of infection control and patient care. Responsibilities Assist the dentist during pediatric dental procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques. Prepare and maintain the treatment area, ensuring it is clean and organized according to infection control protocols. Take and develop X-rays as needed, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Utilize EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for accurate medical documentation and patient record management. Conduct preliminary examinations including taking vital signs and gathering medical history from patients. Educate patients and their guardians on proper oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care. Manage appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out processes, and assist with dental receptionist duties as needed. Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and various dental specialties including prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry. Ensure compliance with all relevant medical coding, documentation, and record-keeping standards. Experience Previous experience in a pediatric dental clinic or similar environment is preferred. Familiarity with medical imaging techniques and equipment is advantageous. Knowledge of aseptic techniques and infection control practices is essential. Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Open Dental or Curve is highly desirable. Understanding of medical terminology related to pediatrics and general dentistry will be beneficial.
