Responsibilities Assist dentists during a variety of treatment procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, oral surgery, and endodontics, all while ensure patient comfort and safety. Prepare treatment rooms with sterilized instruments and materials, adhering strictly to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols. Take digital radiographs (X-rays), including 3D scans when applicable, to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Manage patient records efficiently using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix, ensuring all medical documentation complies with HIPAA regulations. Support patients by explaining procedures, answering questions about dental terminology, and assisting with medical history updates. Perform vital sign assessments and monitor patient well-being before, during, and after procedures. Operate dental equipment such as medical imaging devices and 3D scanners with precision and care. Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment following infection control standards and OSHA guidelines. Collaborate seamlessly with the dental team through four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow and patient experience. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical records, and coordinating with the dental receptionist to ensure smooth operations. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred; familiarity with general dentistry procedures is essential. Proficiency in dental assisting roles, including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, and managing medical documentation, is required. Knowledge of EMR systems like Dentrix is highly desirable; experience with Epic or similar platforms is a plus. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security. Demonstrated knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques. Ability to perform medical imaging accurately while maintaining patient comfort. Excellent communication skills for interacting effectively with patients of all ages and backgrounds.
