Dental Assistant for Hygiene Department Job post summary Date posted: November 4, 2025 Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour Job description: We are looking for an experienced Dental Assistant for our hygiene department. The Hygiene Assistant’s primary responsibility is to provide support and assistance to Hygienist in the clinical areas of the office. Help minimize unnecessary waiting times in the hygiene chair and reception area. Also aiding in providing quality care to the patient. Job Responsibilites : Some of the the Hygiene Assistant duties will be to perform a variety of responsibilities and be cross-trained in many or all of the following: Always greet patients with a smile and bring patients back into the clinical area for their appointments. Make a positive first impression by using the patient’s and parent’s names with a welcoming attitude, demeanor, and a smile. The general nature of the appointment should be explained to help set proper expectations for the appointment. Assist the Hygienist in preparing the patient’s chair with the needed supplies and instruments when needed. Clean the chairs and rooms following treatment to prepare for the next patient. Expanded Duties assistants may perform duties as appropriate, needed, and directed by the Hygienist and or Doctor. Assist in the Flow of Patients : Bring the patient back for treatment, assist throughout the appointment, guide patients and parents to the front desk upon completion of their appointment, and assist in any other area needed to help others in guiding patients through the visit. One of the primary goals of the Hygiene Assistant is to minimize unnecessary wait times. Ensure proper cleaning, sterilization of instruments, chairs, and work stations based on OSHA regulations and the Company standards. Assist the Hygienist in charting dentition and oral health findings. As well as the taking of x-rays and processing them for the hygienist.
