Job Summary We are seeking a skilled, patient-centric Dental Hygienist to join our small dental practice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, performing dental hygiene procedures, and assisting in the overall management of patient health. This role requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, infection control protocols, comfortable using digital technology and scanning, and excellent communication skills to ensure a comfortable experience for patients. It is a focus for the right candidate to build strong relationships with our patients, not to rush through appointments. This position would be taking over for someone who has been with the practice for 25 years. Since we are a small practice, this would be an opportunity to grow with the practice over time. The longevity of this practice is about 60 years, and we are out of network with almost all insurance companies except Delta Dental Premier and Pacific Source. This allows us as a team to be more focused on the care that is needed and not to be dictated by the insurance. Responsibilities Conduct thorough patient assessments and evaluations, including taking vital signs and reviewing medical histories. Perform dental cleanings, scaling, and root planing procedures while adhering to aseptic techniques. Sharpening and maintaining dental instruments. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and the importance of maintaining good dental health. Assist in chairside procedures, providing support to the dentist during examinations and treatments as needed. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Utilize OpenDental for patient management and documentation review. Collaborate with the dental team to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality patient care. Stay updated on their licensure. Experience Knowledge of dental coding, imaging, and anatomy is beneficial for effective patient care. Knowledge of scanning with iTero (or open to be trained) and learning how to present findings within the Oral Health Suite. Basic knowledge of Invisalign. Strong understanding of dental terminology, infection control measures, and aseptic techniques is required. Excellent interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with patients and team members.
