Permanent Dental Hygienist Job in Wheeler, OR

This position provides comprehensive preventive dental care and education to the patients of Nehalem Bay Health Center and Pharmacy and is committed to upholding the mission of the clinic, achieving patient clinical measures, and contributing to the wellness of the broader community. This position will be part of a new dental care team that will provide dental services at the new and expanded Nehalem Bay Health Center and Pharmacy facility in Wheeler, Oregon. The new facility is expected to open in early October 2025. Duties: Conducts thorough dental cleanings and removes plaque, tartar, and stains from teeth. Performs dental examinations and assesses patientsâ oral health. Performs dental x-rays and imaging of diagnostic quality. Applies fluoride treatments and sealants to prevent cavities. Educates patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive care. Documents patient care and treatment plans in dental records. Assists the dentist during procedures as needed. Administers local anesthesia under the direction of the dentist. Takes impressions of patientsâ teeth for study casts or scanned impressions. Performs perio charting of patients. Cleans and sterilizes instruments and equipment. Completes all requirements to maintain an active license to practice as a Dental Hygienist in Oregon. Participates in various clinic committees, as appropriate. Participates in clinic quality improvement activities. Participates in student training opportunities. Complies with all clinical policies and procedures. Assists in community public relations functions. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelorâs or Associateâs degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program. Current license to practice as a Dental Hygienist in the State of Oregon. Previous experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a dental office. Experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced clinical setting preferred. Experience providing dental hygiene to children and adolescents preferred. Experience working with electronic patient records. Experience working with dental imaging equipment and other dental technology. Immunizations: Hepatitis B Physical Requirements: Standing/walking; predominant daily position. Bending, stooping, lifting, positioning; predominant daily physical activities while performing duties within clinic practice. In performing job duties may be exposed to blood and body fluids and hazardous chemicals; sight, auditory, tactile and olfactory senses exposure. Operating technical equipment.
