Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain and improve patients’ oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, taking vital signs, and evaluating oral conditions to develop personalized care plans. Take and interpret radiographs, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed in compliance with infection control standards. Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, dietary habits, and preventive care strategies to promote lifelong dental health. Review medical records and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with HIPAA regulations to safeguard patient information. Maintain aseptic techniques and infection control protocols diligently to prevent cross-contamination within the clinical environment. Utilize dental office software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for charting, scheduling, billing, and record keeping to streamline operations. Support general dentistry procedures by preparing instruments, assisting chairside during treatments, and managing patient comfort throughout visits. Ensure all documentation review processes are completed accurately for medical coding and billing purposes in accordance with healthcare standards. Skills Proficiency in dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology to accurately communicate with patients and team members. Experience with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix for efficient documentation management. Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures essential for safe clinical operations. Ability to perform patient care tasks including vital signs measurement, patient assessment, and chairside assisting with confidence. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles to effectively serve pediatric patients with patience and care. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry best practices to support young patients’ comfort and cooperation during treatments. Excellent communication skills to educate patients clearly about their oral health status and treatment options. Ability to review documentation thoroughly for accuracy in medical records review and medical coding processes. Experience in general dentistry environments or dental clinics that emphasizes teamwork, precision, and compassionate patient interaction.
