Position Overview The Dental Hygienist plays a vital role in supporting the dentist and ensuring each patient has a positive experience. The hygienist will perform professional dental hygiene procedures, educate patients on oral health, and assist in maintaining a safe and efficient clinical environment. Key Responsibilities Perform prophylaxis (cleanings), periodontal scaling and root planing, and polishing. Assess patientsâ oral health and record findings in dental charts. Take, process, and evaluate digital radiographs. Administer local anesthesia (if licensed and certified in NJ). Apply fluoride treatments and sealants as indicated. Provide oral hygiene instruction, nutritional counseling, and post-operative care education. Collaborate closely with the dentist and dental assistants to deliver seamless patient care. Maintain infection control standards in accordance with OSHA and CDC guidelines. Keep accurate patient records and update treatment notes in the practice management software. Qualifications Active New Jersey Dental Hygienist License in good standing. Certification in Local Anesthesia and Nitrous Oxide Sedation (preferred but not mandatory) Current CPR/BLS certification. Excellent communication and patient education skills. Compassionate, professional, and detail-oriented demeanor. Team-oriented with a commitment to providing an exceptional patient experience.
