Duties Perform dental prophylaxis, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain healthy smiles. Conduct thorough patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to all safety protocols. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment plans, and medical histories in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix or Oryx. Follow strict infection control procedures using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination. Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support general dentistry procedures by assisting dentists during examinations and treatments. Monitor and record vital signs before procedures to ensure patient safety. Manage medical coding for billing purposes accurately and efficiently. Uphold all standards related to medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and dental terminology for effective communication within the team. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice in a dental setting. Proven experience in dental hygiene or dental assisting within a clinical environment; experience in pediatric dentistry is highly desirable. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix or Oryx for documentation review and record management. Strong knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures. Familiarity with medical imaging techniques, vital signs monitoring, and patient assessment procedures. Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about oral health practices. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment using four-handed dentistry techniques. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security. Understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge relevant to dentistry, medical terminology, and medical coding practices.
