Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting dentists during procedures, managing patient records, and ensuring the highest standards of infection control and safety. Duties Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly in accordance with aseptic techniques. Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, by handing instruments, managing dental materials, and ensuring patient comfort. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray imaging), when applicable, while adhering to radiation safety standards. Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix, ensuring accurate documentation of treatment plans, medical history, and medical coding. Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient health status before and after procedures to ensure safety. Maintain infection control protocols by following HIPAA regulations and proper sterilization procedures to safeguard patient information and prevent cross-contamination. Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient inquiries efficiently. Assist with medical documentation and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations including HIPAA standards. Collaborate with the team to implement four-handed dentistry techniques that enhance efficiency and reduce procedure time. Educate patients on oral health practices and post-treatment care instructions to promote ongoing dental wellness. Operate dental equipment such as intraoral cameras, digital X-ray machines, with proficiency. Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment that adheres to infection control standards at all times. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a general Dentistry setting is required. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is essential. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control practices. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining excellent patient rapport. Experience with X-ray procedures including digital imaging . Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to medical records and patient privacy is mandatory. Skills in medical coding for billing purposes are preferred but not required. Excellent communication skills combined with a professional demeanor that fosters trust and comfort among patients of all ages, especially pediatrics. Ability to work effectively within a team environment while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
