Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments, ensuring optimal oral health for each patient. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to tailor personalized care plans. Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to strict infection control and aseptic techniques. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to empower them in maintaining their dental health. Review and update medical records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Monitor and document vital signs, medical history updates, and other relevant information for comprehensive patient care. Support infection control protocols by sterilizing instruments, managing dental supplies, and maintaining a clean clinical environment. Collaborate with team members on documentation review, medical coding, and treatment planning to ensure seamless patient care delivery. Maintain detailed records of procedures performed, patient responses, and follow-up recommendations to support ongoing treatment. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice in a clinical setting. Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments with proficiency in dental terminology and anatomy knowledge. Strong familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation and record keeping. Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures aligned with OSHA guidelines. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently during various dental procedures using proper dental assisting techniques. Excellent communication skills for educating patients about oral health practices and treatment options. Experience working with pediatric patients is highly desirable for clinics specializing in children’s dentistry. Understanding of medical coding practices related to dental procedures for accurate billing and documentation review.
