We are looking for a Dental Assistant to help educate and treat patients and promote good oral health practices. As a Pediatric Dental Assistant, you play a VERY important role in helping children succeed in their operative or hygiene appointments and thus, you should be able to build trust and cooperation with patients of all ages and with patients who have special health care needs. Responsibilities Welcome patients and families to ensure patients feel as comfortable as possible Obtain and document comprehensive and relevant medical/dental histories Obtain diagnostic dental radiographs (Bitewings, Occlusals, PAs, Panos) Conduct initial screenings and check oral health history Identify conditions like gingivitis and visual caries Clean and help protect patientsâ teeth (toothbrush prophies and coronal polishing if EFDA certified) Educate patients of all ages on proper oral care -- guided demonstrations are extremely important with our population when teaching good brushing and flossing techniques Maintain documentation and charts on each patient and participate in treatment planning discussions with patient and families -- Dentrix experienced preferred Assist dentist in operative procedures Sterilize dental instruments properly Monitor supplies Skills/Requirements Ability to help and "serve" patients, families and your team Proven experience as a Dental Assistant In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations in this profession (e.g. HIPAA, OSHA) Experience in preparing and maintaining dental equipment Outstanding communication skills A patient and friendly personality Attention to detail Stamina to meet the physical demands of the job Valid Oregon license/certification to obtain radiographs Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA).
