Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Taking various types of dental imaging such as X-rays, panos, and CBCTs while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong oral health habits. Review and update medical records accurately within Eaglesoft electronic medical record (EMR) and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Monitor patient vital signs before procedures to ensure safety during treatment. Maintain a sterile environment by following infection control standards, including proper sterilization of instruments and use of personal protective equipment. Document all patient interactions, treatments, and observations thoroughly for accurate medical coding and recordkeeping. Understanding patient insurance policies in order to properly schedule and explain treatment needed. Support other members of the dental team during down time including but not limited to: scheduling recalls and treatment, prepping/turning others operatories, restocking supplies and maintaining sterilization. Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards related to medical records management and documentation review processes. Experience Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced dental office or clinic setting is required. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures is essential. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices is a plus, especially when caring for pediatric patients in a compassionate manner. Demonstrated ability to explain various dental procedures and reasons for recommended treatment. Knowledge of dental terminology, dental coding, and documentation review processes enhances accuracy in recordkeeping. Excellent communication skills for patient education and team collaboration are vital to success in this role.
