Key Responsibilities Your primary function will be to meet the legal requirements of a licensed South Carolina dentist overseeing a hygiene practice: Hygiene Examinations (Core Responsibility): Conduct thorough periodic and comprehensive patient exams (D0120/D0150) as mandated by state law for all hygiene recall visits. Hygiene Authorization: Review patient records and diagnostic data, providing legal authorization for Registered Dental Hygienists (RDHs) to perform procedures like prophylaxis, scaling, and root planing. Oral Health Screening: Perform and document mandated oral cancer screenings, periodontal assessments, and caries risk evaluations. Treatment Recommendations & Referrals: Ethically identify and document necessary restorative treatments, referring patients to trusted partner practices for complex needs. Whitening Oversight: Provide final clinical approval and oversight for all professional whitening protocols. Documentation: Ensure all patient records, findings, and recommendations are accurately recorded in the digital system. Qualifications Licensure: Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree. Active South Carolina Dental License in good standing (required). Skills: Excellent chairside manner, a commitment to preventive patient education, and meticulous attention to detail in diagnostics and documentation.
