Position Overview The Dental Assistant supports the dentist in delivering high-quality, efficient, and comfortable patient care. This role includes preparing treatment rooms, assisting in procedures, maintaining infection control standards, and ensuring an exceptional patient experience. The ideal candidate is reliable, fast-learning, organized, and enjoys working in a team-oriented, patient-focused environment. Key Responsibilities1. Clinical Support Assist the dentist chairside during procedures including exams, fillings, crowns, extractions, root canals, and prosthetics. Anticipate the dentistâs needs to ensure efficient workflow. Prepare instruments, materials, and equipment before each procedure. Take and process digital X-rays, intraoral scans, and photographs. Place topical anesthetic, take impressions, and perform other delegated tasks as legally allowed by the state. 2. Infection Control & Equipment Sterilization Properly disinfect operatories between patients according to OSHA and CDC guidelines. Sterilize instruments and maintain organization of sterilization area. Monitor inventory and notify management of low supplies. Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, PPE standards, and equipment maintenance. 3. Patient Care & Experience Welcome patients warmly and help ease dental anxiety. Explain post-op instructions clearly and ensure patient understanding. Assist in taking medical history, updating records, and verifying information. Communicate professionally and compassionately at all times. 4. Clinical Workflow & Documentation Keep treatment rooms well-stocked and properly set up. Accurately document treatment notes, materials used, and procedure details. Support same-day dentistry by preparing for immediate treatment when needed. Assist with lab cases: impressions, bite registrations, tracking, and communication. Skills & Qualifications Dental Assistant experience preferred (1+ years), but willing to train the right candidate. State-required certifications (e.g., RDA, radiology certification)âcustomize for your state. Knowledge of dental instruments, materials, and procedures. Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a busy environment. Excellent communication and patient service skills. Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting. Familiarity with dental software (FUSE,Open Dental, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, etc.) is a plus. Performance Expectations Maintain excellent infection control and room turnover times. Support dentist efficiency and maintain an organized clinical environment. Provide warm, professional patient care consistently. Stay proactive with stocking, sterilization, and treatment preparation. Demonstrate adaptability and a strong work ethic. Work Environment Fast-paced, high-patient-volume dental practice. Regular exposure to clinical equipment, cleaning agents, and PPE requirements. May require evenings or weekends based on schedule.
