Permanent Dental Hygienist Job in South Weymouth, MA

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality dental care to our patients, focusing on preventive oral health and education. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy, and aseptic techniques, as well as the ability to work effectively in both pediatric and general dentistry settings. Responsibilities Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history reviews and oral examinations. Perform dental cleanings, scaling, and root planing, polishing and fluoride procedures while adhering to aseptic techniques. Take, process, and interpret dental x-rays (within allowable scope). Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide (if licensed and certified). Apply sealants and desensitizing agents. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, nutrition, disease prevention, and the importance of regular dental visits. Assist in the development of individualized treatment plans based on patient needs. Assist dentist during patient exams when necessary. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in accordance with dental office protocols. Monitor and maintain inventory of hygiene supplies and report needs to management. Collaborate with dentists and other dental professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care. Stay updated on advancements in dental hygiene practices and technologies. Qualifications Active Massachusetts Dental Hygienist License in good standing. Certification in administration of local anesthesia and/or nitrous oxide (if applicable). Current CPR/BLS certification . Proficient in dental software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental). Proficiency in dental terminology and knowledge of anatomy related to oral health. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry is a plus, but not required. Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control standards. Strong communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively. Ability to work well within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
