Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team. Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper technique and safety protocols are followed. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong oral health. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Follow strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination within the clinical environment. Collaborate with dentists to review documentation, assist in diagnosis, and ensure comprehensive patient care. Manage medical records efficiently within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems while adhering to privacy standards. Uphold all safety standards related to anatomy knowledge, medical coding, and infection prevention during clinical procedures. Stay current with advancements in dental terminology, general dentistry practices, and emerging technologies to continually improve service quality. Skills Proficiency in dental software such as Dentrix Ascend for scheduling, documentation, and record management. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental practice. Experience with chairside assisting in general dentistry settings using aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety. Skilled in medical imaging procedures including X-ray positioning and safety protocols for both adult and pediatric patients. Familiarity with infection control standards aligned with OSHA guidelines to maintain a sterile clinical environment. Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach that fosters trust and comfort among diverse patient populations. Knowledge of medical coding processes for billing purposes related to preventive services rendered by hygienists. Experience working within dental office or clinic environments with a strong emphasis on documentation review and compliance standards such as HIPAA regulations.
