Responsibilities Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments, by preparing the treatment area and handing instruments efficiently. Operate and maintain dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and medical imaging devices, ensuring all tools are sterilized and functioning properly. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), adhering strictly to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to protect patient health. Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy in medical documentation, coding, and record-keeping in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support the dental reception process by scheduling appointments, verifying patient insurance information, and managing medical records with precision. Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures to ensure a positive experience. Implement infection control procedures consistently to maintain a sterile environment that meets all OSHA standards. Assist with chairside duties during various treatments by applying dental terminology accurately and supporting the dentist with clinical tasks such as medical imaging and handling dental materials. Maintain a thorough understanding of anatomy knowledge relevant to dentistry to assist effectively across multiple specialties including endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Support four-handed dentistry practices by working efficiently alongside the dental team to optimize workflow and reduce procedure times. Experience Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred; familiarity with general dentistry practices is essential. Hands-on experience with EMR systems such as Open Dental or Eaglesoft is required; knowledge of Epic or other medical documentation platforms is a plus. Proficiency in taking X-rays, operating 3D scanners, and understanding medical terminology related to dentistry enhances your ability to succeed in this role. Demonstrated knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and anatomy relevant to pediatric dentistry is highly valued.
