Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive care strategies to promote lifelong dental health. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency and comfort. Take dental imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper technique and safety protocols are followed. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, adhering to HIPAA regulations. Review documentation for accuracy, update patient charts, and assist with medical coding for billing purposes. Follow strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination in the clinic environment. Monitor and record vital signs before procedures, ensuring patient stability throughout treatment. Support pediatric dentistry cases with specialized care tailored to children’s needs in a compassionate manner. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice. Proven experience in dental office settings, with familiarity in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry preferred. Proficiency with dental software with Dentrix for documentation and scheduling management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical terminology. Skilled in chairside assisting techniques, including medical imaging and medical records management. Ability to perform comprehensive patient care while demonstrating excellent communication skills and professionalism. Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards to ensure patient privacy is maintained at all times. Experience with EMR systems, documentation review, medical coding, and infection prevention protocols is highly desirable.
