Registered Dental Hygienist - Kenneth W. Mowry, DMD - Pittsburgh, PA

We are looking for a Dental Hygienist at my office located in Fox Chapel. Three days/week. Dental Hygienist duties include: promoting good oral health practices, conducting initial patient screenings, cleaning teeth and educating patients on oral health and preventative care, treating periodontal disease, handling dental emergencies, and building trust with patients of all ages. You should have deep knowledge of relevant health and safety rules and a good eye for oral diseases and anomalies. If you have a steady hand and great chairside manner, we’d like to meet you. Hours are: Monday 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Tuesday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, and Wednesday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. No weekends! I would also consider hiring a candidate who is looking to work only one or two of these days. Responsibilities Ensure patients feel as comfortable as possible before their examination Sterilize dental instruments properly Conduct initial oral screenings and review medical and oral health history Identify conditions like gingivitis, caries or periodontitis Clean and help protect patients’ teeth Educate patients of all ages on proper teeth care demonstrating good brushing techniques Give instructions to patients after dental procedures Take X-rays and/or dental impressions Assist dentists with selecting appropriate treatments for various diseases (including oral cancer) Maintain documentation and charts on each patient Monitor supplies Skills Proven experience as Dental Hygienist In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations in this profession Experience in preparing and maintaining dental equipment Outstanding communication skills A patient and friendly personality Attention to detail Stamina to meet the physical demands of the job Diploma in Dental Hygiene Valid PA license to practice Job Type: Part-time Pay: $36.00 - $42.00 per hour Benefits: Dental insurance Employee discount Flexible schedule Paid time off Tuition reimbursement Education: Associate (Preferred) Experience: Dental hygiene: 1 year (Preferred) Computer Skills: 1 year (Preferred) License/Certification: PA Registered Dental Hygienist License (Required) Work Location: In person
