Duties Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) using digital systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix to assist in diagnosis. Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable. Assist the dentist during procedures with chairside assisting, ensuring proper aseptic technique and infection control protocols are followed. Document all patient interactions accurately in electronic medical records (EMR systems), including medical and dental records review. Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment adhering to HIPAA regulations and infection control standards. Support pediatric patients with gentle care, ensuring comfort during treatments and assessments specific to pediatrics. Monitor vital signs and recognize signs of medical emergencies or abnormalities requiring immediate attention. Collaborate with the dental team on treatment planning, documentation review, and medical coding for billing purposes. Experience Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques. Prior experience with dental assisting duties, including chairside support during various procedures. Ability to perform medical imaging procedures accurately and efficiently. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse age groups, especially pediatrics. Experience reviewing medical records, conducting patient assessments, and supporting documentation review processes.
